The new beginning
Carrick Advertiser Article from July 2007 (Click to view larger image) following the first club meeting where Carrickfergus & District Motorcycle Club was reformed and back in business.
Carrickfergus & District Motorcycle Club Ltd. was established in 2007 to cater for the large number of competitors and enthusiasts living in the East Antrim area, and was incorporated as a limited company in September 2007. As an affiliated member of the Motorcycle Racing Association (Ireland) “MRA”, all of our events are run under an MRA permit and are covered by MRA insurance. Furthermore, our events must meet the exacting requirements imposed by the MRA General Competition Rules, copies of which are available on request.
The club is run by a group of motocross enthusiasts who use their knowledge and experience within the sport along with their professional backgrounds to promote safe and enjoyable events for competitors and spectators. Both adult and youth competitors of all abilities are catered for at our grasstrack championship while the motocross and cross country events are currently limited to adult competitors.
To date, the club has promoted a number of grasstrack, training and social events from 2007 through to 2011 and is aiming to promote more of the same in the 2012 season. CDMCC has attracted a high calibre of competitors to events in the past such Gordon Crockard (British & World Motocross), Jonathan Rea (World Superbikes) plus local Ulster / Irish champions Tommy Merton, Wayne Garrett and Richard Bird to name a few.

The club has gone from a handful of club members back in 2007, to become one of the biggest clubs in the country with a strong membership of around 250 people, adult and youth combined. Recently our events have attracted attention from the local Carrickfergus Council and for 2011 we were entrusted to promote a Two Day Motocross event in the Carrickfergus Borough, a venture which is part funded by the council. The 2011 Two Day Motocross was held at Knockagh Hill and the video recap from that event is featured below.
Also during 2011 the club promoted an adult and youth supercross at Taylor's Avenue Football Stadium, home of Carrick Rangers FC which turned out to be one of the motocross events of the year in the country, the video is again, featured below.
