Statement - Wednesday’s Adult Grasstrack will go ahead as planned!
Carrickfergus & District Motorcycle Club can confirm that Wednesday evenings Adult Grasstrack at Dalway’s Bawn will go ahead as planned following confirmation of private first aid cover sourced at 5.30pm this evening. This is the same company that will be covering the Maxxis British Championship at Desertmartin later on in June so riders and spectators can be assured that we have the very best replacement cover in place for Wednesdays racing.
Explanation & Apology for Youth Postponement
We are absolutely gutted that we had to take the decision at 4pm today to postpone this evenings planned youth event but it was due to circumstances totally beyond our control and there was nothing more we could have done. Every post in the place was painted last week, the track levelled, power harrowed and even watered this morning in preparation for racing but unfortunately we were let down by the British Red Cross Administration Department as late as 3.45pm today. This is no reflection on the first aid personnel who were scheduled to cover the event; it was purely down to them not being provided with the ambulance required.
The club acted straight away when told the news and proceeded to call near enough every private ambulance service in the country to try and get cover but at such late notice it wasn’t possible tonight. We understand that there are many of you that had already taken half days or were on route to the circuit when you heard the announcement but we thought it best to explore every avenue possible to try and get racing to go ahead this evening opposed to throwing the towel in straight away.
The club will look to rearrange the final round of the youth championship at the monthly MRA Committee Meeting on Thursday night and inform every one of the new date on Friday at some stage. We can only apologise again for the inconvenience and hope that you understand the situation that we were dropped in.

Ryan Denney
